Why did you decide to become a lawyer?
It may sound corny, but I wanted to be a lawyer so that I could help people and make a difference in their lives. On a daily basis, I am able to navigate the legal system's complexities and intricacies on behalf of my clients in order to further their interests. Being a criminal defense lawyer is a real rush. I couldn't think of anything else I'd rather do in the legal field.
Being able to practice law in two different states is both challenging and rewarding. Despite North Carolina and South Carolina's close proximity, the law can vary greatly from one jurisdiction to the next, and it is my responsibility to be aware of these differences.
In addition, I grew up in an attorney's family. My father has been a lawyer in Charlotte, NC for nearly 40 years, and my sister is an insurance defense attorney in Raleigh, NC.
