About James W. Hundley
Jim Hundley has more than 30 years of experience handling complex criminal and civil cases. He represents individuals and corporations in state and federal courts in Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland regularly. He has represented clients accused of crimes ranging from bank fraud to bid-rigging, bribery, embezzlement, tax evasion, and computer fraud. Mr. Hundley has successfully handled civil cases involving a wide range of issues, including breach of contract, tortious interference with business, theft of trade secrets, personal injury, and civil rights violations.
Mr. Hundley has extensive appellate experience as well. He had the honor of appearing before the United States Supreme Court in April 2000 to argue the case of Dickerson v. the United States, in which the Court ruled that the well-known Miranda warnings are required by the United States Constitution and cannot be repealed by legislation. United States v. Dickerson, 530 U.S. 428 (2000). He has also appeared before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the Virginia Supreme Court, and the Virginia Court of Appeals.
Mr. Hundley graduated from Georgetown Law Center in 1989 and was admitted to the Virginia State Bar. Mr. Hundley clerked for the Honorable James C. Cacheris in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia during his first year of practice. Mr. Hundley joined the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney for Fairfax County after completing his clerkship, where he worked as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney until December 1996. Mr. Hundley co-founded Briglia Hundley in January 1997.
