About Lisa M. Hettich
Lisa M. Hettich, originally from Sidney, Montana, returned to the Bakken region to make her home in western North Dakota, where she is a Partner in the firm's Williston office. Lisa has maintained her civil litigation practice in Williston since joining the firm as an associate attorney in the fall of 2012. Lisa had previously interned in the Williston office during the summers of 2010 and 2011 – some of those years in "Boomtown, USA," where it was difficult to tell whether you were going or coming! Lisa realized during those summer experiences that she enjoyed the fast-paced environment, the different types of work available, and the clients to be served. It was clear early on that Williston was an excellent location for her and the firm's goal of doing great work for great clients; a goal that Lisa takes to heart keeps in front of her and strives to exceed in every matter for every client, every day.
She had always wanted to be a lawyer. Lisa graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Studies from the University of North Dakota in December 2008, thinking that criminal law would be her path. Lisa then interned in the United States Senate in Washington, DC, before beginning law school. She then graduated with honors from Drake University Law School in May 2012, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif. Lisa was very involved in the opportunities available to her outside of the classroom while in law school, which are detailed in turn below. She was able to work as a student extern for the Honorable Edward M. Mansfield, Justice of the Iowa Supreme Court, and a student intern for Joe Bolkcom, Senator of the Iowa State Senate.
Lisa has always believed that it is important to use her God-given talents to help right wrongs and assist those who are unable or do not know how to help themselves. Lisa's desire to excel at assisting others, combined with her "go get 'em" attitude, has served her well in her professional endeavors in a relatively short period. She has extensive experience in both state and federal courts in a wide range of litigation matters, including breach of contract disputes, breach of trust actions, breach of warranty claims, collections, contested guardianship and probate proceedings, creditors' rights (executions, garnishments, and sheriff's sales), personal injury and wrongful death defense, involuntary dissolutions, landlord-tenant disputes, lien foreclosures (construction, mobile home, oil and gas writs), and writs of execution. She has successfully tried jury trials in state and federal courts. Lisa also has appellate experience, having taken cases to the Supreme Court of North Dakota and Montana for consideration.
