About Thomas Benavidez
Thomas A. Benavidez is a shareholder and President of Benavidez Law Group, P.C. Thomas earned his law degree with honors from California Western School of Law in 1996. During law school, Thomas served as Executive Lead Articles Editor for the California Western International Law Journal, was on the Dean's List at all times, and clerked for Appellate Defenders, Inc., writing appellate briefs, motions, and memoranda. Thomas interned for the Honorable Rudi M. Brewster, United States District Court Judge, before joining the Hochuli & Benavidez, P.C. team in 1996, writing bench memoranda and court orders.
When Daniel J. Hochuli retired from private practice in January 2006, the name of the firm was changed, and Thomas became the sole shareholder. Thomas now runs the firm and serves as general counsel for the Northwest Fire District and the Drexel Heights Fire District. He also represents other clients of the firm in real estate, employment, contract, and general litigation matters.
Thomas is a Judge Pro Tem of the Pima County Justice Court and the Marana Municipal Court, in addition to practicing law. He is a member of the Trial Lawyers Association of America and a graduate of the Arizona College of Trial Advocacy. He is also a member of the Arizona State Bar's Real Property Section's Executive Council and the Chair of its Pima County Real Property Continuing Legal Education Program.
Thomas was a competitive rifle marksman before beginning his legal career. Thomas has retired from competition due to the demands of his family and law practice, but he still actively participates in shooting sports, archery, and hunting.
