About James O’Donnell
Senior partner James O’Donnell earned his undergraduate degree, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, from San Diego State University in 1981. He then graduated from the University of California’s Hastings College of Law in San Francisco in 1985. James worked as an extern in 1985 for the Honorable Robert Schnacke of the United States District Court of the Northern District. James went on to practice as a trial lawyer with a prominent insurance defense law firm in San Francisco. After subsequently moving as a trial lawyer to one of the top plaintiff’s personal injury law firms in 1988, James co-founded O’Donnell & Smith in 1995 to dedicate himself to representing injured individuals in personal injury cases. James is a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California, American Association for Justice, Alameda-Contra Costa Trial Lawyers Association and is a former member of the Board of Governors of the Alameda-Contra Costa Trial Lawyers Association. James has an AV Preeminent rating for Legal Ability and Ethical Standards with Martindale-Hubbell. James is admitted to all Courts in the State of California and the United States District Court of the Northern District.
